Walking not only gets your dog the exercise needed, but it also stimulates the senses. Your dog gets to see, smell, feel, and hear all types of new and interesting things when out for a walk. This stimulation often includes meeting other people or animals, which can be an excellent way to encourage proper socialization for your dog or new puppy.
Regular walking helps to release excess energy in your dog, resulting in calmer behavior at home.
Hiring a dog walker gives you the peace of mind that your dog is well taken care of, even when you are not at home. You can feel confident that you are doing the best you can for your dog, and that your dog is living a rewarding, happy and their best life!
We all live busy lives and every minute counts. Sometimes, consistent walks are difficult to fit into your schedules. With a regular dog walker from Pet Pals, your dog still gets exercise and attention they deserve, while you get back a great deal of time. Everyone wins!
Did you know...
That's close to 17 million dogs!

It's more than leash and go.
Experience matters as knowing where your dog should walk depends upon a variety of things, including situational factors.
Pro tips...
No Dog Left Behind -
Often, if your dog is way behind you, then it could indicate they are fearful.
No Pulling -
A dog pulling in front of you (no slack in the leash at all) is at risk of causing major injury to your dog and to you.
Yes Mind Games -
It’s important for your dog to have the ability to investigate interesting scents and sights in the environment.
Pet Pals understands how busy you are. Call or email us today to see how our dog walking service can benefit you, your family, and your dog.
Take your dog on a sniffventure!
Let their nose be the guide! I promise you'll have a more relaxed and content dog on the other side of it!
Sniffing on walks is one of the things our dogs live to do! It enriches their lives greatly! This type of walk allows your dog to stop, explore with their nose, mark scents to let other dogs know they were there, etc. Also known as “sending pee mail”, all of the aforementioned stimulus and more get the brain active. That active working brain burns a lot of energy. A 15-20 minute sniff walk is better for a dog's physiological wellness then a 60 minute speed walk.
Remember that mental stimulation is just as important as physical exercise. Pet Pals has a walk plan specific to your dog's needs ensuring they get the stimulation and exercise they deserve while building their confidence and maintaining manners. It's not just a walk, it's your pet kid's life!
Let's investigate the dog mind mechanics for a hot second!
It is not so much pleasure as necessity that keeps their noses to the ground. All day, every day, we humans receive information, be it through verbal communication, notifications on our phones, or even signs explicitly telling us what to look out for. Dogs, on the other hand don't exactly experience the world in the same way. While most dogs still have the use of helpful senses like sight and hearing to help them read their environment, neither can quite compete with their incredible sense of smell, which outweighs the others by a long shot.
Unlike people, with our inferior 5 million olfactory receptors, dogs are equipped with over 250 million, which they use to decode the world around them. A dog sense of smell is crucial for communicating, exploring, and evaluating.
Let your dog check their pee mail!
To deprive your dog of the opportunity to smell would be a disservice, but that doesn't mean you need to let them make the rules and drag you all over the neighborhood. Smelling is an important activity for dogs, so you will want to make some time for them to investigate what's going on in their enviornment.
Pet Parents often make the mistake of assuming that a faster, long walk is the best option for tiring a dog out. Yet, one of the most simple natural and enriching behaviors is sniffing. By giving your dog more opportunities to use their powerful sense of smell, they will undoubtedly enjoy their walk more. They will also be more stimulated, gain more choice and freedom, and, ultimately, be more tired and relaxed.
The mental enrichment your dog gets on a slow walk with lots of time for sniffing is much greater than they would get on a fast-paced, walk to heel. This means a shorter sniffy walk can tire them out and they will generally be more relaxed and less likely to exhibit destructive or mischievous behavior when at home.

"In the end, remember that going for a walk with a dog without letting them sniff is akin to your being taken out for scenic drive, but asked to keep your eyes shut. And really what's the point of that."
